North: Asilomar

December 4 - 7, 2008



This is the oldest of our three fall conferences; we've had 60 CMC North conferences and 50 have been at this one venue. It is held one week after Thanksgiving, the weekend surrounding the first Saturday in December. The beautiful, historic Asilomar State Beach, on the Monterey Peninsula, has been the setting for over 50 years. This year's theme is

The mathematical and artistic brilliance of Richard Werner, Santa Rosa Jr College's Mathematics Department, and David Fowler in designing this year's conference logo is gratefully acknowledged. Honorable Mention in the design contest goes to Michael Hernandez, Santa Rosa City Schools, and Matthew Lanford, a student at SRJC.

A version of this logo will be available on T-shirts and other items for sale at the conference.




DIRECTIONS

Asilomar is located on the ocean in Pacific Grove, just below Monterey, at the southern tip of Monterey Bay.

From Hwy 1, take Pacific Grove Hwy 68 Exit. Hwy 68 will become Forest Avenue. Continue 1 mile to PG Middle School and turn left onto Sinex Avenue. Sinex deadends at the Asilomar gates. Friday after 3 it is recommended that, unless you have on-grounds housing, you park at PGMS and take the shuttle to Asilomar.

From Hwy 17, take the Hwy 1 South exit. See Above
From the north, take Hwy 101 South, and bear right onto Hwy 156 West and then take 1 South. See above.
From the south, take Hwy 101 North to Hwy 68 West. See above.
