President-Elect
willebrand:
Sheri Willebrand

California is a land of contrasts. Students representing great diversity live in the mountains, near the seashore, and in the deserts and go to schools that are rural and urban and in large districts as well as small one-school districts. California’s educational contrasts are both our strengths and our challenges: standards, student diversity, and political change. California teachers look to CMC for its our strength to meet our challenges, including how children learn and how best to teach. As President-Elect, I will look to the future to provide
teachers with information and strategies to meet the needs of all students as we implement the newly adopted mathematics programs and coordinate curriculum. I bring experience as CMC-South President (2004–05), Curriculum Commission member (1996–99), and 26 years in education as a teacher and mathematics specialist.

Secretary
easterdayjoan:
Joan Easterday
I am currently the CMC Secretary, which has given me the opportunity to work with a network of professionals devoted to mathematics education. I began my mathematics work as a fellow with the Bay Area Mathematics Project and continued the work with California replacement units, the Middle Grades Mathematics Renaissance, and Mathematics Renaissance K–12. I am currently working with Sonoma County Office of Education as a mathematics project manager focusing on lesson study. Previously, I was a curriculum resource teacher in mathematics and science for 20 years for Santa Rosa City Schools

I am a middle school mathematics teacher in the Bay Area and the current CMC-North Vice President and Program Chair. I have served in this position for four years and have attended CMC-North board meetings and worked on the conference for more than ten years. As a CMC-North officer, I attended the State Board meetings and learned how our State Board works. I have also kept current with what is happening at state and national levels in mathematics education. This background will help me be a leader in our state and keep us moving forward, making alliances and connections, and supporting our fellow mathematics educators.
