CMC-S Grant Application

DESCRIPTION

A Category: Elementary Education Scholarships
  • Scholarships ranging from $100 to $1000 to be used for continuing education for students enrolled in an elementary education credential program.
  • We are pleased to announce the 2008 recipients: Emily Parker and Jaime Speregen

B Category: Secondary Education Scholarships
  • Scholarships ranging from $100 to $1000 to be used for continuing education for students enrolled in a secondary education credential program.
  • We are pleased to announce the 2008 recipients: Julianne Arends, Claudia Campos, Krishelle Hardson-Hurley, Jaime Henderson, Nathan Hunter, Amanda Jean, Alexandra Kim, and Dianne Lechuga.

C Category: Professional Inservice Grants
  • Professional inservice grants ranging from $100 to $1000 to credentialed teachers and/or mathematics supervisors who are active members of CMC–S.  Grant may be used to cover the cost of educational and technology-based materials that will be shared with colleagues. This category can also be used for conferences.
  • We are pleased to announce the 2008 recipient: Carlos Aguirre.

D Category: Professional Scholarships
  • Professional scholarships of varied amounts to be used for coursework and degree accreditation programs for current teachers of mathematics who are active members of CMC-S. This includes teachers who are changing their teaching field and those who are completing a second credential.
  • There was no 2008 recipient.



ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
    Applicants must reside, teach, or attend school in one of the 8 southern California counties. Consult Section Membership for details.

  1. Category: Elementary Education Scholarships
    1. Applicants must have been accepted into an elementary education credential program in an accredited Southern California institution of higher education.
    2. Applicants must be interested in mathematics as demonstrated by having completed at least six units of mathematics courses at the college level beyond that required for general education for an undergraduate degree.
    3. Download and complete the application for Category A/B.
    4. NOTE: Elementary teachers should also consider applying for The Lurie Center Elementary Teaching Award.

  2. Category: Secondary Education Scholarships
    1. Application must have accepted into a secondary credential program in an accredited Southern California institution of higher education.
    2. Applicants must be working toward a single subject credential in mathematics and have the equivalent of an undergraduate degree in mathematics.
    3. Download and complete the application for Category A/B.

  3. Category: Professional Inservice Grants
    1. Applicants must submit a proposed program of professional growth in the teaching of mathematics which benefits mathematics education. This may include, but not be limited to seminars, institutes, professional growth programs, course work, research studies, and grants to study mathematics programs.
    2. Download and complete the application for Category C/D.

  4. Category: Professional Scholarships
    1. Applicants must submit a course of study which includes their educational goals and specifies the college(s), classes, and estimated costs.
    2. Applicants must supply verification from an appropriate administrator that at least sixty percent of their current and future teaching schedules are/will be in mathematics.
    3. Applicants must submit a course of study of educational goals and describe how they relate to the discipline of mathematics.
    4. Download and complete the application for Category C/D.

    NOTE: You must use Acrobat Reader to complete these applications using your computer.  Other programs, such as MAC's Preview, will allow you to read and print the pages but will not allow you to enter your information before printing.

    Successful Applicants Will Be Notified By March 31
