Section Membership

A Note on Membership and Dues
Membership in CMC automatically makes you a member of one of these sections (unless you reside out-of-state). There is no separate dues for section membership.

redpointer: Statewide CMC
consists of three sections, South, Central and North—which for historical reasons also includes portions of Nevada.

redpointer: CMC-Central
consists of 16 counties: Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Stanislaus, Tulare, Tuolumne.

redpointer: CMC-South
consists of 8 counties: Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Ventura.

redpointer: CMC-North
consists of the other 34 counties. Washoe County and surrounding Nevada counties are also part of the Northern Section.

Additionally, the second line of the label on your ComMuniCator has your membership number, section, and expiration date. If you are a member of the southern section this line will have #nnnnn SOU n#. Likewise the central and northern sections have CEN and NOR respectively.

For example, the postal label for member #30, from the North, reads #00030 NOR 7#.
The digit 7 on the end is a checksum that facilitates automation of the mail; other than as a source of a good math problem, it has nothing to do with CMC or your membership.

Consult our affiliate map for additional information on the section and affiliate boundaries.

NOTE: Membership in CMC and a CMC-Section is one and the same, but separate from national membership (NCTM) and local affiliate membership. Membership in one does NOT make you a member of the other. Also, to add to the confusion, many of our affiliates have names which are spin-offs of CMC.

CMC-C, CMC-N, CMC-S are sections of CMC; they are CMC.
But CMC-N8up: , CMC3, and CMC3-S are separate, affiliate organizations.
